DescriptionThe jetty is on the far centre right where the Wanganella was moored to give accommodation for the workers on the Manapouri hydro project.

On my last visit some years later I was surprised how nature was healing the scars created by man on the roadsides of Wilmot Pass and at West Arm. The new Deep Cove Hostel is in the centre of this photo, built on the site of the original hostel inherited from the project. We also installed our own small hydro for the Hostel to use, with the water coming from the small creek on the upper left of the hostel. A residence was also built behind the hostel for the caretaker whose duties included dispensing of fuel for the fishing industry and road maintenance crews. Last edited by: Robin Mossman
