Details
Date1974DescriptionIn 1974 Ngauruhoe erupted spectacularly sending clouds of ash across the surrounding area contaminating water supplies and damaging car surfaces. At night you could see the red-hot rocks being flung from the crater. It was an awesome sight. The ash settled on the tussock so when you walked through it you got covered in sticky grey ash.
