DescriptionThe Number 1 house at Aoraki Mount Cook was designed by Christchurch architect Paul Pascoe He was known for his modernist architectural style and was prominent as a designer of functional public buildings in New Zealand. This building, along with the Park Headquarters are two enduring examples of Pascoe's work although it might be argued that the Park Headquarters-Visitor Centre has been modified to the extent that Pascoe's style has been lost. The house was first occupied by Harry Ayres and family. Martin Heine and Jane Pearson lived here for 10 years in the 1970s/80s Last edited by: Murray Reedy
