DescriptionThe Te Wahipounamu World Heritage Visitor at Haast on the day it was officially opened, December 14th 1991.

The Visitor Centre was designed by Greymouth Architect Gary Hopkinson and built by Robert Wallace from Wanaka. Neil Challenger and Susan Asplin oversaw Landscape design and development The visitor Centre was one of several eco-tourism developments built by the newly established Department of Conservation on behalf of the Government.
