DescriptionThe NP&RR Association’s submission to the Select Committee on the 1979 National Parks Bill that led to the National Parks Act 1980. Primarily Bert Youngman’s work It was typed up by Whakapapa Visitor Information Centre Receptionist Jan Oldberry. Bert & Norm attended the Select Committee Hearings, which raised some thorny issues in Parliament, with the Opposition shouting across the floor that even the Govt’s officers opposed the Bill. This, as you can see, was not entirely true. Bert focussed in great part to mitigating dubious policy. Such was the rush to produce the submission Bert (&Jan) and Norm forgot to attach a date !!!
