DescriptionThis is one of three houses build at the proposed Birch Hill village site by the Mt Cook National Park Board in 1968. The two-bedroom cottages were built by Park Carpenter Kevin Payne. A three-bedroom house was built off site and transported to Birch hill. The houses were occupied by Murray and Pat Reedy, Trevor and Jenny Westren and Barry and Viv Thomas and family. The plan to establish a staff village at Birch Hill were short lived. The Birch hill fan was seriously windy and after only a few years the houses were all relocated to a new staff housing development at Mt Cook. Last edited by: Murray Reedy
