DescriptionAccording to Pat Sheridan:
The first boat used by the board staff was donated by Warmsley Canning, a Central Hawkes Bay farmer. It was an open sturdy clinker boat with a 10hp outboard. Many a cold hour was spent chugging along the rippled waters and two-hour rides to the extremities of the lake were common.

Wally remembers: The 15' clinker dinghy was to give excellent service for the next 4 or 5 years or so and while wet, was a good safe sea boat in which we carted staff, hut and track building materials, shingle and other goods and equipment as well as using it regularly for lake patrol.

Rex Mossman remembers:
It was a 15 foot wooden clinker boat, with an outboard and rain canopy. It was very slow and took about an hour to get to the far end of the lake. Last edited by: Robin Mossman
