Biography

Peter Fletcher was appointed as a ranger (in Tongariro National Park) and also a manager of the motor camp a position he held until appointed chief ranger of Westland National Park.

Peter had an interesting background as a saw doctor living at Te Whaiti then with a large construction firm whose major works included Nandi International Airport in Fiji and the Wairakei Power Station. His skill as an amateur wrestling champ meant that there were few problems in the motor camp. He had a great interest in botany and the Maori history of the area as well as a love of the mountains.
